12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.
The fig tree in this bible passage was green and healthy, so Christ assumed it had food to sustain others. However on reaching the tree he realized that it was only producing enough photosynthesis to sustain itself and as such was deceitful to other living beings around it. Some of us as believers are like the fig tree.
We appear full and rich in the anointment but we only become so filled to sustain ourselves. We are unable to offer encouragement to our brothers and sisters in Christ. We look beautiful and others can see the goodness of God in our lives. We however do not pour out any of that goodness unto anyone else.
Just like the Fig tree if we only create enough to sustain or preserve ourselves we are no good.
Share your testimonies with others and let them know of the goodness of our true and living god Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
