Paul wasn’t writing about a grit-your-teeth kind of contentment. He had learned to trust deeply in God for all his needs, so the apostle did not worry about future events.
His strength lay in God, who cared for his every need, even when churches forgot him.
We, too, can be content in Jesus. If the boss doesn’t give us a raise or an unexpected bill comes in, He knows it.
Nothing escapes His watchful love in our lives.
