Matthew 4:11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him
Matthew chapter 4 tells of when Jesus was tempted by the devil after fasting for forty days.
The word of God promises that we would not be given more than we can bear and God will provide a way out for us during times of temptation. For each temptation that came Jesus’ way the word of God was His way out.
In verse 11 of chapter 4 we see that it wasn’t until AFTER Jesus resisted temptation, did the angels come and minister to Him. We all have angels assigned to us and they wait for such time when they can come and minister to our hearts as well.
Sometimes though, when faced with temptation we give in rather than stand on God’s promise that he will provide a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). Afterward we find ourselves going before God seeking forgiveness; this isn’t a bad thing because God is gracious, merciful and faithful to forgive our sins.
However when I think about it, I’d much prefer resist temptation and have my encounter with the angels than seek forgiveness for succumbing to sin. In times of temptation we are faced with two choices: Give in or resist.
The possibility that I will be ministered unto by Holy angels when I resist temptation is one more reason for me to choose to do right by God.
What will you do when it’s your time to choose?
