Daily Dose – Children of God

Children of God

Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

God draws His children near, connecting them firmly to Himself through the Son and the Holy Spirit.

There is no division in the Godhead when it comes to loving God’s adopted children.

With the Spirit we call out “Abba Daddy” to the Holy One who loved us enough to call us to Himself, despite our sin.

Through Jesus’ sacrifice and the Spirit’s work, God the Father cleanses us and opens communications so we can follow Him truly.

Daily Dose – Living For Christ

Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Living for Christ through his spirit offers real life, overflowing and abundant. Blessings spill over in obedient lives, but the world, at war with God, doesn’t understand.

Unbelievers never feel the touch of the Spirit in their hearts and lives, Jesus’ gentle love is foreign to them.

Put to death worldly misdeeds, and instead of the emptiness of the world, you’ll receive blessings indeed.

Holy Spirit Access

John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

I had the most remarkable encounter with the Holy Spirit this weekend. Youth For Christ Trinidad and Tobago, recently launched a competition seeking to find young ministers in the body of Christ. I saw the poster on our Church’s notice board and decided I’d enter in the short sermon category.

The theme for the competition is “Jesus is coming soon, are you ready?”. The contestants were required to interpret the theme and share their interpretations through song, dance, monologues or short sermons.

I’ve never delivered a sermon before. I’ve spoken to others about the bible and discussed my views on scriptures but I never had to present those views to a large crowd. As you can imagine I did a lot of preparation in my attempt to use the right scriptures and analogies to build an effective message  within a five minute time frame.

The morning of the competition I continuously practiced what I would say and how I would say it. I timed myself and ensured I was as ready as humanly possible to represent the kingdom. In my heart I kept asking the Holy Spirit to manifest itself in my preaching and help me to deliver the sermon. I continued to pray that prayer all day, even while waiting for my time to present.

When the time arrived for me to minister I felt a peace and a difference. I walked unto the altar and started to deliver an enthused message about accepting Jesus Christ as lord and savior before his return. While delivering the sermon I realized that what I was saying and the illustrations I was using wasn’t what I practiced the morning before. I was using the knowledge I had from reading the bible scriptures but I was connecting with the audience in a way I never imagined possible.

As I type I remember Jesus speaking to his disciples about the end times and instructing them not to worry about what to say when brought before the rulers for preaching the gospel.

Mark 13:11 Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

I know what you’re thinking “But you weren’t defending yourself, you were sharing the word….” and you’re right, but in the same way the Holy Spirit helps us speak in defending the gospel it also helps us deliver the word of God.

I spoke my pastor on Sunday after service and told him my experience and he confirmed my thoughts by telling me the same thing happens to him a lot of times when he’s delivering the gospel.

I can ‘t begin to tell you how fascinated, excited and thankful I am. God keeps showing up and proving his word true to me and I give him all honor and glory for being the amazing God that he is.

The Holy Spirit Guarantees Future Promises

Ephesians 1: 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Who are the “you also” to whom Paul referred? This meant all non-Jews who had become believers. Christ came to die for everyone—not just Jews, but Gentiles too. God had promised that through one of Abraham’s descendants, “all peoples on earth will be blessed” (Genesis 12:3). Jesus fulfilled that promise when he opened the way of salvation to everyone. When we believe the Good News, God saves us. In that moment God gives us his Holy Spirit, who is like a security deposit. The fact that we have the Holy Spirit means that all the rest of God’s promises will come true.

God’s promises about eternity are as certain as our salvation. There is no need to doubt what God says. While we may not understand everything in our lives or even agree on how the future will play out, we can agree that Jesus is coming back to take us to heaven to be with him forever.

We can have confidence in God’s promises for the future. The Holy Spirit testifies daily to the fact that all of God’s promises will come true “to the praise of his glory.”

God’s Promise to Me

  • I gave you my Spirit as a guarantee that I will give you everything else I promised.
  • You can be confident in all of my promises for the future.

My Prayer to God

God, thank you for giving me your Holy Spirit and for identifying me as your child. Thank you for the glorious future you have in store for me.

My God Is Awesome

Awesome God

Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

In Trinidad and Tobago there is a group called the Solidarity Movement; a group that helps the youth of the nation stand together in solidarity and cry out to God.I was invited to the prayer meeting by my friend about a month ago and honestly I wasn’t very eager about attending at first but when I walked into the room there were approximately 200 YOUNG people praising and praying and the spirit of God was all around us. We spent all night giving praise to God and fighting warfare against the enemy. The presence of God was felt as soon as I walked into the room and I knew instantly that I was in the right place at the right time and God was going to do something great.

SolidarityDuring worship we cried out to God for freedom. Freedom from the strong holds the enemy placed against us and our family. Pastor Dougie (The leader of the solidarity movement) had all the young men link hands and stand at the center of the altar as a symbol of unity against the enemy and his workers of iniquity. While their hands were linked all of the women in attendance marched around them praying and making declarations on their lives. We all chanted FREEDOM and sounded the war cry as a unit and we felt the spirit of God move in an awesome way in the sanctuary.

After we marched around the men, all the women linked hands at the altar and the men began to march around us. We cried out to God to free us from all the hurt that we have endured as women. We called out to him to break the chains of bondage upon our lives and give us to strength to move past the hurt and be ambassadors for him. While praying I began to cry out because I kept seeing all the women in my family who have strayed from God’s word and whose lives are controlled by the enemy. I was overwhelmed with emotion and all I could do was call the name Jesus and beg for their release.

God gave me a revelation last night. I need to pray for the women in my family and in my life, because the enemy is out to destroy us. I have made the decision to fight warfare in the spirit realm and take back what the enemy has stolen from me. I know that the devil will not stand idly by and watch God take back the souls of these women but I enter this fight knowing that the battle is not mine, and that the enemy has NO POWER over this child of God.

Just as I have made this decision to reclaim what is rightfully my father’s I want to encourage you to take the spiritual realm by force and help take back what is rightfully God’s own. Maybe it’s a son or a daughter, maybe even a spouse or friend who has turned from God or have not had the opportunity to know him intimately. What ever the situation we have the victory over it through Christ our lord. Keep trusting God and stand firmly on his word and you will see a remarkable testimony unfold before you.

I don’t know what God has done for you but I urge you to share your testimony with someone and offer them the encouragement they need to live a life pleasing to God.

Please share your testimony with us by emailing it to testifywithme@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you.

God Bless You!

Breaking The Habit

Colossians 3: 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him…………..23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Sometimes breaking a habit as a believer can be a difficult thing especially when it’s a habit we’ve practiced for a long time. Tasha tells us of her experience in breaking the habit of gossiping. I hope her testimony will inspire you to do everything to the honor and glory and god and serve as encouragement to anyone who is struggling to break a bad habit.

Before I received Jesus into my life, I thrived in the gossiping arena! O boy- anything you needed to know-in detail- come to me! I was also the type of person who loved to talk about people and I learned the art of  finger pointing  O so well! My conversations were very rarely about anything good. I mean! Where does “good” get you really?

Need I tell you how I felt when I read this piece of scripture? “Do everything unto God…”hmm! I had to clean up my act and fast!

Thankfully, the new friends I’d made at church had already learned this lesson so there was very little chance of me getting caught up in “not so nice” conversations. I had to learn to keep my mouth shut when I had nothing good to say— O boy! You’d think I never spoke again during this time huh? [lol]Nope! I actually began to speak about good things. I began to see the good in situations and focused my energies on that instead :)

I learned that my conversations (words) had to be done in the name of Jesus, and THAT required some serious change on my part! Now- this was not a magic trick and I would be a liar if I said I haven’t been tempted [and slipped up several times] to revert to my “old ways” in various situations- but now I am most conscious of it and with the help of the Holy Spirit, I really make the effort to cut -it -out! ;)

I hope Tasha’s testimony encouraged your hearts as it did mine. We all have or have had a bad habit that we needed to stop because it did not bring glory to the kingdom of Heaven. However it is always good to know that we are not alone in our struggles and we have proof that it is possible to break the habit.

I don’t know what God has done for you but I urge you to share your testimony with someone and offer them the encouragement they need to live a life pleasing to God.

Please share your testimony with us by emailing it to testifywithme@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you.

God Bless You!

While worshiping in church this morning, I asked god “what should I write about today?” and I was told to just give him thanks. I look around me and I realize that god has truly blessed me. He’s given me a wonderful family, I have a job, I never go hungry, I have a roof over my head, clothes on my back and most of all he’s given me his holy spirit as a comforter in my times of need.

Today I urge you to take some time and reflect on the many ways god has blessed you and give him thanks. Although some of us may not be where we would like to be or maybe we’re praying for deliverance from a situation, just remember that no matter how bad things are he has the power to make them better.

I thank god today for his goodness and mercies towards me and although there are things in my life I am struggling with I know that I am a work in progress and my destiny is in his hands.

God bless you!
