Encouragement From The Cross

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Today I was reminded of the foundation on which my Christianity is formed. I am saved because God loved me enough to send the only son he has into the world to die on a cross and shed His blood for me. The thing is, He sent His son knowing that I would not accept Him right away and I would reject this perfect gift he was offering me. I believe in the story of the cross and in the saving blood of Jesus Christ, and that, is the foundation of my faith.

I think saying that I forgot the principle of the cross would be a bit draconian, but I can say that I needed a reminder of it today. When I first understood the love God showed me it changed my life. Everything I thought was important went out the door; career, marriage, friends, everything paled in comparison to my new desire for more of this amazing being.

As my desire grew and my passion became stronger, the enemy of my soul stepped in and life became a battle. The war between my flesh and my spirit was all too real and the weight of that battle took it’s toll on me. I started losing things, and I was stripped of every right I thought I had and for someone as liberal as me, that change was hard.

The darts came hard and fast and the closer I get to my purpose being fulfilled the harder this Christian walk seemed to get. Then, just as I was at breaking point, God reminded me of His love for me. He reminded me that I’m reconciled to Him and I’m His child. I was reminded that He loved me before I loved Him and gave up his most prized possession to secure a place in eternity for me.

Once, I spoke to a group of youths and I was told them that if you believe something then you should act in accordance with that belief. If I believed I had a million dollars in the bank then I’d go shopping and start swiping my debit card, expecting the machine to say “accepted” every time. In the same way, if I truly believe in God and the love He has for me then I’ll live my life following His word and expecting to have victory over the enemy time and time again.

I don’t believe that things will get easier. I believe that Satan will continue to fight me, that my flesh will continue to war against my spirit and the challenges will get bigger as I grow stronger in Christ. I also believe that the God I serve is greater than any challenge I will face in life. I believe that through Christ I can do ALL things and I hold firm to God’s promise that I will never be given more than I can bear. I believe and hold strongly to Mark 16:16-19

He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.

All of these promises are available, not only to me, but to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ; that he came to earth in the form of a man, died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day. I am who I am and I am where I’m at today only because Christ died on a cross to save me. That salvation is available to you too and whether you’re only now finding out about the cross or you’ve known about it for a long time, I think it’s good to have a reminder that someone loved you enough to die on a cross so you can have a wonderful eternity wrapped in God’s arms.

Daily Dose – Open Door

John 3:16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

These words are God’s open door to those who believe in His Son.

The barrier between God’s holiness and man’s sinfulness disintegrates when we believe in Jesus’ sacrifice for human sin.

But we must walk through that open door, with faith, to inherit the eternal life God offers.

Have you taken that step, or are you still outside the door?

Daily Dose – Lord Lord

Matthew 7:21-23

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Take some time today and think about your salvation and your destination after death. Are you living according to the will of God and His word or are you living a life of lawlessness?

Now is the time to consider if there are changes to be made in your life, for after death there is only judgement.

Daily Dose – Thank You

1 Chronicles 16:8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!

God has been so good to me. When I look at my life and think on all the things that he saved me from I can’t help but say thank you.

So many times we give thanks for the very big breakthrough or the very small blessings like waking up and having food and clothing, and we are supposed to.

But there are some in-between things as well, some things that God saved us from or took us through even when we didn’t acknowledge the role he played in our lives. Today I thank God for loving me and protecting me even when I didn’t love or acknowledge him.

My life could have been so messed up if not God’s grace. Thank you Lord for your grace and mercy.

What are you thankful for today?

Daily Dose – Source of Salvation

Hebrews 5:9 He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him

Salvation in Jesus is important to our earthly lives.

How many times has he dispelled danger or helped us avoid it? How often has sin failed to mar our lives because we obeyed His commands?

But Jesus is also the source of salvation in eternity. Instead of remaining forever in our earthly lives, God planned to bring us into everlasting life with Him in his kingdom.

In heaven, we will praise His salvation without end.

Choose Ye This Day

If you want Religion and /or Tradition handed down, do not read this.

But if you want God:

You see friends, Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seems right unto man but the end thereof are the ways of death.

You may have been born into a Christian home, Hindu home, Muslim home, or any other religious home for that matter. That does not save you or get you in to heaven.

You had no choice regarding which family you were born into, but since you were born into that family home you enjoyed all the privileges of entering and partaking in whatever was available there.

You choose your mate, house, car etc. etc. (at least I hope you did). Well, praise god, he now gives you an opportunity to choose where you want to spend your ‘ETERNITY’. This choice is yours, not mother, father, sister, brother or anyone else, it’s yours. Jeremiah 29:13 says

YOU will seek me and find me when you SEEK me with all your heart.

You must want god, not religion or tradition. When you want something go after it. Joshua 24:15 states,

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then CHOOSE FOR YOURSELVES this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

You now have a choice to enter in to and partake of all that is available in god’s house. John 3:3 says,

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, NO ONE CAN SEE the kingdom of God unless they are born again.

Born again means making the choice to receive GOD’S GIFT of salvation. You were born into the earthly realm: NO CHOICE. You must be born into the heavenly realm: YOUR CHOICE. God gives you the opportunity to choose your eternal destiny: Religion won’t help. Tradition won’t help. Family or anyone else cannot, only god can.

Romans 5:But God demonstrates HIS OWN LOVE for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 14:Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. NO ONE COMES to the Father except through me.

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Look God, I’m confused about what is really true. There are too many religions out there; I need your help. I know I’m a sinner, I need your help really badly. I don’t want religion nor Tradition, I want your terms. I repent of my sins. Please forgive me and help me to live for you. I now receive your gift of salvation, Jesus Christ into my heart. Amen
