Daily Dose – Wake Up!!!!

Destruction

Philippians 3:19  They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.

If for any reason you didn’t read the scripture above, please stop and read it now.

Does this sound familiar to you? Can you think of a generation that is like this right now in this day and age?

We are………………

My heart aches as I type because I know that this verse describes our generation. We celebrate everything with food and have no desire to go through periods of prayer and fasting. Sexual immorality is accepted and has become a norm; pornography and prostitution is no longer taboo, sex is shown and discussed openly and loosely on every medium available to man and the world persecutes those who speak out against it. In addition, man’s eyes seemed to be fixed on earthly treasures and accomplishments rather than heavenly ones; everyone aims at building a nice house, driving a nice car, earning a great degree and finding the perfect job. How many are enthused about winning souls for the kingdom and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are being given a warning. If we do not wake up and change our ways, we will be destroyed. It’s time to shift our focus and realign it to God’s will.

Daily Dose: No More Compromise

broken-chain

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Today I write from a place of renewed strength. I once had a fire for God and the things of God, but somewhere on my journey I began to compromise.

Compromising began in my mind first, then it found it’s way into my conversations and soon enough in my actions. I can’t trace compromise back to it’s roots. I don’t know the date or time when I started to entertain things that I knew where contrary to what my Father wanted for my life. All I know right now, is that I don’t need to see the root of this problem to change it, the fact that I can see a stem to hold on to means I can hold firm and root it up.

It’s like a carrot; you don’t see the vegetable but in faith you grab hold of it’s stem and pull it up from the ground. That’s the kind of faith I’m standing on today. The bible says that we will know the truth and it will make us free. In order for us to be made free we need to exercise the power and authority given to us through the truth (the word of God) and use it to overcome the problems in our lives.

There’s always going to be a time in life when we have to choose to do the right thing. Making that choice isn’t always easy or fun or simple for that matter, but it will definitely be worth it. I’m no longer going to entertain compromise. I read this somewhere before “Wrong is wrong even if everybody’s doing it and right is still right even if no one is doing it.” I believe this and I’m going to try and live it.

Sometimes we just need to be radical about our stance for God and our love for Him and just do the right thing. I know that there are some situations where it’s not as easy to do this. Sometimes we need to pray and fast and wait on God’s perfect strength to see us through, but I honestly believe that we battle with some things simply because we refuse to stand firm on the word of God and despise those things which are not of Him. If He’s already said it in His word, that some things in our lives don’t please Him then it’s time we get radical and just let go of those things, understanding that letting go will work for our good.

Is there anything you’ve been toying with in your life that you know is contrary to the word of God? If there is then maybe the time has come for you too to stop compromising as well.

Daily Dose – Worship In His Presence

prostrate

Mark 5:6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him.

The man in the verse above was living a life of torment because his body was inhabited by demons. Yet when he saw Christ and entered into His presence, he did not ask for deliverance. Instead he worshiped Him.

This demon possessed man and even the demons that inhabited his body knew what a privileged it was to be in God’s presence. They acknowledged Christ and gave Him the worship that was due onto Him.

This man had a chance encounter with God. We have the honor of entering into the presence as much as we like and yet so many of people take it for granted. How many times have people stood in church and the presence of God is surrounding them, yet they do nothing.

Not even the demons could have stopped this afflicted man from worshiping Jesus. Likewise no pain, situation, affliction or trial should stop us from worshiping when we’re in the presence of God.

When we worship God first, without our asking, He will free us from those things that bind us.

Daily Dose – Tell Somebody

tell-somebody

Mark 5:19……………..“Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.”

Go home to your friends and TELL them!

This command was given to a man who Jesus freed from a legion of demons. The once possessed man wanted to go with Jesus after he was delivered but Christ told him to go home instead and let others know of the goodness of God.

We too have the same mandate. We need to tell people, in fact not just anyone, we need to tell our friends what God has done for us. It’s not just enough to say you’re a Christian and go to church on a Sunday, you need to be specific sometimes and tell others exactly what God has done for you and why you’re thankful to Him. God requires that we tell people, especially those close to us, what he has done for us.

Today I give you a challenge. Before you leave this page, I challenge you to leave a comment below expressing what Christ has done for you and why you’re thankful.

I’ll start – God has blessed me with a best friend that has the same passion for Him as I do and who I can go to at anytime for spiritual support. Sometimes it feels like he made us with each other in mind and ordained that we would be friends for life. Without her friendship I know my walk with Christ would have been tougher. So today I thank Him for placing Candace in my life as a spiritual sister.

Now it’s your turn, what have God done for you?

Daily Dose: It’ll Get Better

Hope_in_focus

Haggai 2:9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.

Today I write from a place of hurt and confusion. My mind is racing and my heart keeps breaking but I’m pressing forward in hope.

I’m hopeful that things will get better and the pain will subside. I’m hopeful that what’s coming is going to be better than what’s been and my stumbling blocks will be my stepping stones.

My emotions tell me that I won’t bounce back, but my God tells me that my latter will be greater than my past.

So today; even in my brokenness I share with you my hope in Jesus. He has a plan for all of us and called us for a purpose greater than this situation. So as you keep pressing toward the mark of the high calling stand firm on his word and know that things will get better.

Romans 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Daily Dose – Turn From Your Wicked Ways

2 Chronicles 7-14

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

When God spoke these words he wasn’t speaking to the unsaved. He was speaking to you and I: His people.

God recognized that although we know Him and serve Him we have some ways that are wicked in His sight. He has given us dominion over the earth, but our ways and lack of desire to pray and seek His face prevents us from seeing the manifestation of His goodness in our land.

So many negative things are taking place around the world, and we the people of God have the power to change them.

Will you examine yourself and turn from those things that aren’t pleasing to God, for the sake of your land?

Daily Dose – Dry Bones

ezekiel371

Ezekiel 37:5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live

Is there a situation in your life that you were praying about and now it seems that there is no hope for that thing coming to pass?

Today I want to tell you that God is able to restore life to that situation. Look not at the dryness of those bones, instead look to the creator of Heaven and Earth and watch him renew and restore life to them.

We serve a constant God and just as he was able to restore life to the dry bones in the day of Ezekiel, he can restore the dry bones in your life today.

The question is; Will you believe Him to do it?

Daily Dose – You Will Stand Out

standing-out-business-cards

Deuteronomy 14:2 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

Ever stopped and thought to yourself “I’m so different” or, if you’re like me you probably find yourself saying “I’m weird”?

I know I have. In the past I’ve questioned my difference. I somehow don’t always fit in or share the view of the vast majority and sometimes I’m the only one making a stance for what I believe in and speaking out on issues that have become “the norm”.

If you’re like me then I have good news for you. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO STAND OUT HONEY!

You have been chosen by God as a Peculiar person to stand above all the nations upon the earth. It’s a good thing to not fit in, and stand for right even when everyone has become comfortable doing wrong.

Today, let’s join in celebration! If your stance for God and your belief in His word has caused you to stand out or stick out at times, I raise a toast to you.

Here’s to being called by God and representing him in all peculiarity!!

Daily Dose – Pass The Test

Joseph Flees

Deuteronomy 13:3……………for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

I read this scripture this morning and went “wow”.

Have you ever been in that place where you have a choice to make, and the option to do wrong is extremely appealing. So much so that it pains to make the right decision?

I have! And I can tell you, being in place or space where it hurts to do what is right before God, is one of the most depressing experiences to have.

I think of Joseph when he was faced with Potiphar’s wife throwing herself at him. Imagine his predicament; this beautiful woman willingly giving her body to you and you need to decide whether to give in to your natural desire to lay with her, or to flee and not sin against God.

Joseph knew what his relationship with God meant. His love for God superseded his desire for a woman’s body and in that moment when tested he showed his faithfulness to the God if Israel .

Like Joseph, we too will be faced with situations where God will look to see whether our desire is truly for Him or not. There are circumstances in your life that God allows to happen to test your faithfulness to Him and your obedience to His word.

What will your test results say?

Daily Dose – Ever Present

God Sees

Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.

God is in EVERY place. He’s EVERYWHERE we are and sees EVERYTHING we do.

Wow!

Sometimes we overlook the reality that God isn’t confined to the walls of our church. The reality is, he is everywhere that we are, looking at what we’re doing; both good and evil.

I have surely fallen prey to not being cognoscente of God’s presence in every single aspect of my life.

If we can picture God being right by our sides as we go through our day, how much better would we behave? How much more will we live our lives in accordance to His word and His commandments?

It’s important to remember that our inability to acknowledge God’s presence does not mean he’s not there.

I purpose today to acknowledge the presence of my Father, King, Savior and Friend as I go through my day.

Will you do the same?
